Education and Staff Development

As in any industry, staff training forms an integral part of an employee’s development. Here at the West Australian Nursing Agency it is our belief that for too many years Agency Nurses have suffered because of the somewhat isolated nature of agency employment.

We are committed to providing our staff with greater opportunities for their staff development by working together with both our team of Nurses and our Clients.

WANA holds regular core competency updates in CPR (or HBLS – Hospital Based Life Support) and Manual Handling to ensure WANA Nurses have current competency and practice safely. These are conducted by Accredited Trainers from within the Private Training Industry or Public Hospital Nursing Education Divisions and are applicable to all health care settings.

WANA holds education sessions on such issues as Wound Management and Infection Control Principles on an ongoing basis throughout each year.

WANA liaises with the Public and Private Hospitals and other Health Services to refer WANA staff on to study days relevant to their field of nursing. This is filtered to staff by use of our regular staff development flyer covering education in all areas of nursing.

WANA supports its Nurses with their education requirements by offering incentives annually for core staff members to encourage attendance at relevant study days or courses.
