Hello everyone at WANA!
I am writing to thankyou for the trip to Rottnest which I won at the
Christmas party. What a wonderful prize! Finally made it over there,
and had a fantastic day. I just looked at the photos of the party, it
was a memorable night!
I just want to say that WANA is a great company to work for. Everyone
at the office is always friendly on the phone, and very patient with me when I've
just woken up! Well, you never hear the good things, only the bad so I
thought I'd just let you all know that!
Thanks again,
Thea, Western Australia

I have only positive things to say about wana and our early days in Perth. You made it easier for us arriving here with 4 children by arranging that lovely house for us and the fact that you collected us at the airport despite the fact that I was stinking of vomit when you picked us up! My job has been great and we have really enjoyed the early days. I would recommend wana to anyone and thank you very much for helping us

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your
help and support throughout the last few months. It has been such
a comfort to us to know that you were always there if we needed
you. You were such a great source of advice even before we left
the UK and we didnt have a clue what we were doing! I am sad
that we now have to leave you behind and grateful that you will
be recommending us to your sister agency in Sydney. If they are
half as good as you I am sure we will be just fine. So, thanks again,
keep up the good work and know that you are all very much appreciated.

I
came out to Perth from the U.K. on a sponsorship with WANA about
3 months ago. I originally came to Australia on a working holiday
the year before and worked in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney. After
having travelled around a bit I decided I liked Perth more than
anywhere else and decided to apply for a sponsorship here.
It may not be the biggest or the busiest city
in Australia but there is a lot going on in Perth. There are fantastic
beaches. A huge variety of bars and restaurants all over the city,
Kings Park where they have lots of concerts and theatrical performances,
the outdoor cinema, the river, the Sunday Session. I also love the
fact that there is usually always a pretty easygoing atmosphere.
I had to return to the U.K. after my 12 months
working holiday but WANA kept in touch with me regularly, letting
me know of the progress they were making with my sponsorship application.
In order for WANA to find me an appropriate sponsor hospital I had
to fill in some paperwork telling them where I had previously worked
and the kind of experience I had. They then did all the searching
for an appropriate sponsor. They found me one in about 6 weeks.
They sent me all the paperwork I needed to fill in, all I had to
do was check that it was correct.
I was very impressed with WANA because they were
frequently in touch with me. They were constantly e mailing to update
me on what was happening with my application. I also felt that I
could ask anything, even silly things some other people might find
trivial.
Since I have been back in Perth they have been
in touch frequently, checking up to make sure that I am happy where
I am and with what I am doing. Within the first few weeks of being
back I got an invitation to go to a drinks evening to meet other
international nurses who are sponsored by WANA. This was great as
you get to meet all different people and hear all of their experiences
and hopefully make some new friends.
I would recommend being sponsored. But I would
advise that people be careful when they are selecting where they
want to be sponsored. I would advise them to get as much information
about the hospitals that are interested in sponsoring them and compare
them, to see which ones look most suitable for their own particular
needs. Then they are more likely to be happy with there selection.

When I first contacted WANA I was a little dubious,
having already moved from the UK to the USA with a nursing agency.
However my concerns were soon laid to rest. Everyone at WANA was
very helpful, they quickly found me a suitable placement, in the
specialty that I had requested, and arranged the telephone interview
with the hospital, (much less stressful than a face to face interview).
They provided all the information I needed for
the visa application process and all the forms, and no matter how
many times I called them with questions they were always helpful,
everything is always 'no worries' or 'no drama'.
When we arrived at Perth International Airport
after an exhausting 36 hour journey from Los Angeles, Rebecca collected
us, and even though our heavy luggage seriously overloaded the car
it was still 'no drama'. We were driven through the beautiful city
of Perth in the bright morning sunshine, my first time in Australia.
The agency had arranged for us to stay at a comfortable
hotel right in the middle of Perth for the first couple of days.
The first week was very busy but WANA was there to help all the
way, from good advice on letting agencies and good suburbs to live
in, to letting me use their computer to check my Email.
Moving to a new country is always hard work, but
with good support it can be 'less of a drama' than you might expect.

What can I say about WANA? When we arrived to
fill in our documentation, the staff were very efficient and friendly.
Within 5 days we were working. We also moved into the WANA house,
we got to know all the girls really well and they were all so kind
and accommodating. The house was located across from the train station
so work was easily accessible. There was one hospital around the
corner so that was in walking distance. The work in each hospital
was fine cos all staff are so friendly and helpful, dont
worry you will get shown around. We could be sent to different hospitals
everyday but if we preferred one particular hospital, we requested
that hospital only and the WANA team were accommodating in that
request. Then at Christmas, we had the WANA party and it was great
to meet outside of work.
