Beer, Beaches & BBQ’s….

What more is there to a holiday in Australia? Well there is work of course! and… The West Australian Nursing Agency has loads of it…. all over Australia to help supplement your bank balance and allow you to see more of our vast country.

If you are a Registered Nurse with at least 12 months Post Graduate Nursing experience and you are under the age of 31 and meet the Working Holiday Visa criteria then WANA can help you. If you are older than 31 yrs then unfortunately you have missed out on the deadline for a Working Holiday Visa, in which case you can either apply for a Permanent Resident’s Visa or a Sponsorship Visa.

What steps to take?

Firstly of course you will need a passport…. your document to the world of travel!!

Secondly you will need to apply for a working holiday visa, this is a relatively simple process and can be done on the internet. Visit the Australian Immigration department website and apply on line.

The WHV can also be obtained by making a written application at an Overseas Visa Office. This visa allows a stay in Australia for a period of 12 months from date of entry.

Last but not least is to have your nursing qualifications registered by a Nursing Board in Australia. We cannot stress the importance of registering before you leave home and how much easier this is for you to do before you start your travels – those Nurses who arrive in Oz with their registration already complete can start work almost immediately, those who have not completed this vital step often find they have to wait for ages before they are able to commence working. (See www.anci.com.au)

Here in the WANA office, we often comment we would make excellent travel agents as a great deal of our time is spent advising Travelling Nurses about the best routes to take to come to Oz and what to see and do once they arrive!

WANA can liaise with you right from the very beginnings of your dreams of travelling to Australia, often first meeting you before you even leave home when we visit the UK and Ireland. WANA can provide you with help on the whole process including:

  • Help with planning the best travel route to make the most of what this BIG country has to offer
  • Work in any city you like within Australia and Australia wide
  • Information on what to see, what to do and where to go accommodation information – why not stay at Villa WANA
  • WANA has ongoing work in all areas; i.e. Medical, Surgical, Midwifery, Critical Care, Orthopaedics……. and pays specialist and certificate rates

Contact WANA anytime for help with your travel questions. So what are you waiting for... Contact Us… get your Nursing Registration sorted, get your visa, book your ticket and GO!!!
